Opt Out of Interest-Based Advertising
NAI members are committed to transparency and choice. The NAI opt-out tool was developed in conjunction with our members and the DAA for the express purpose of allowing consumers to "opt out" of the Interest-Based Advertising delivered by our members on Web pages using cookies.
Some of the ads you receive on Web pages are customized based on predictions about your interests generated from your visits over time and across different Web sites. This type of ad customization — sometimes called "interest-based" advertising or “online behavioral” — is enabled through various technologies, including browser cookies as well as other non-cookie technologies. Such online advertising helps support the free content, products and services you get online.
Using the tools on this page, you can opt out from receiving Interest-Based Advertising from some or all of our participating companies that use HTTP cookies on your computer browser for Interest-Based Advertising.
For now, you may use this page to:
- Find out which participating companies have currently enabled customized ads for your browser using cookies on your browser;
- See all NAI members and learn more about their advertising and privacy practices;
- Check whether you’ve already opted out from member companies that are using cookies for Interest-Based Advertising;
- Opt out of cookie-enabled interest-based advertising by some or all members, using opt-out cookies to store your preferences in your browser; or
Opting out does not mean you will no longer receive online advertising. It does mean that the company or companies from which you opted out will no longer deliver ads tailored to your web preferences and usage patterns using cookie-based technology.
Please Note: Technology used to deliver interest-based advertising continues to evolve and change. As of the date of publication of this page, this opt out covers interest-based advertising delivered to your device via HTTP cookies only. It does not cover the use of other technologies that NAI member companies may use to deliver interest-based advertising. NAI and its members are currently working on developing a mechanism to allow you to opt out of the use of non-cookie technologies for Interest-Based Advertising by NAI members. NAI is working with its members to ensure that new business models and non-cookie based technologies are implemented by NAI members in a manner that is consistent with the core requirements of the NAI Code and the spirit of the Fair Information Practice Principles.
